Privacy Policy
Last Updated: August 25, 2026
BookPuzzles is owned and operated by Top Lane Solutions located at 20 Penn Mart Center, PMB # 1052, New Castle, DE 19720-4207.
By using our site, our mobile-friendly tools, and any related features (collectively, the “Site“), you agree that your information will be collected, used, and handled as described below.
1. What This Policy Covers
This Privacy Policy applies only to bookpuzzles.com. It does not extend to any third-party website you might reach by clicking a link from our Site, even if that link sits right next to one of our puzzles. We’re not responsible for the privacy practices of sites we don’t operate, so once you click away, that site’s own policy takes over.
2. The Puzzle Pieces We Collect
We, along with the vendors, ad networks, and analytics partners who help keep the lights on, use tools such as cookies, tracking pixels, and small scripts to gather several categories of information about our visitors. Sometimes these categories overlap, much like a well-constructed crossword grid:
- Personal Information: details that could identify you personally and that you choose to give us, such as your name, mailing address, phone number, email address, and similar information supplied when you register, comment, or contact us. If you give us information about someone else, that counts too.
- Demographic Information: broader, non-unique characteristics like zip code, mobile carrier, age range, gender, household income bracket, education level, marital status, job field, or hobbies — the kind of information that describes a group of solvers rather than any one of you.
- Behavioral Information: data automatically generated by your visit, including which puzzles you played, pages you viewed, device and browser type, operating system, IP address, approximate location, referring site, and time spent staring at a particularly stubborn clue.
- Third-Party Information: information we receive from outside sources, including cookies placed by others, persistent identifiers, opt-in email lists, search terms that led you to us, and publicly available records. We don’t control how these third parties collect their data and aren’t responsible for their practices.
- Children’s Information: we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the age of 13. If we ever learn that we have, we will delete it from our systems promptly.
3. Cookies and Similar Technology
Like most sites built around games and puzzles, bookpuzzles.com uses cookies and comparable tracking technologies to remember your preferences, keep your puzzle progress intact between visits, personalize content, and measure how our marketing efforts perform. Cookies are small text files stored on your device that let us recognize you on return visits. Some cookies disappear the moment you close your browser; others stick around on your device until you clear them out yourself.
4. How We Use What We Collect
We put collected information to work in a number of ways, including to:
- run, maintain, and keep the Site operating smoothly;
- improve, refine, and expand our puzzle library and features;
- carry out whatever purpose you gave us the information for in the first place;
- study how people actually use the Site so we can make it better;
- build new tools, puzzle formats, and features;
- communicate with you directly, or through partners, about customer service, updates, and promotions;
- send you offers on our behalf or on behalf of third parties that might interest you;
- let you know when something on the Site changes;
- deliver the features and services you’ve requested;
- respond to your questions and support requests;
- watch for and prevent fraud or misuse; and
- carry out any other purpose you’ve specifically agreed to.
5. When We Share Information
We may freely share information that doesn’t identify any particular person. As for information that does, we may disclose it:
- with our affiliates, parent entities, and subsidiaries;
- to accomplish the purpose for which you gave it to us;
- for any purpose we disclosed to you at the time of collection;
- with third parties who want to market their own products or services to you, unless you’ve opted out;
- with a buyer or successor if we go through a merger, acquisition, sale of assets, or similar transaction;
- with contractors and service providers who help run our business, all of whom are bound to keep it confidential and to follow our data-handling standards; and
- whenever you’ve otherwise agreed to it.
We may also disclose information when required by law or legal process, to enforce our agreements, or when we believe in good faith that doing so is necessary to protect the safety of Book Puzzles, our users, or the public. Book Puzzles complies with the CAN-SPAM Act (15 U.S.C. § 7704) in all of its marketing communications. If you’d like us to stop sharing your personally identifiable information with third parties for their own marketing purposes, you can submit a request using the process described in the California section below.
6. Advertising and Analytics Partners
We work with third-party advertising and analytics companies that may place ads for us on other sites, track how those ads perform, and serve ads on our Site as well. These partners may collect information about the sites you’ve visited and the ads you’ve clicked, along with details like your IP address, the timing of your visit, your internet service provider, and your browser. This information may be paired with personally identifiable information, such as your name or email, and used to deliver targeted advertising by email, on social platforms, or elsewhere, and to help us understand how well our advertising is working.
7. Your Choices
You have some control over what we collect. You can choose not to share personal information with us at all, though certain features of the Site may not work properly without it. Most browsers also let you decline or delete cookies — check your browser settings for instructions.
8. California Privacy Rights
If you’re a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (“CCPA“) gives you certain rights over your personal information, described below.
Right to Know What We’ve Collected, Disclosed, or Sold
(a) You may ask us to disclose the categories and specific pieces of personal information we’ve collected about you. For this purpose, “personal information” does not include: (i) information that’s lawfully available from public government records; (ii) de-identified or aggregated information; (iii) information excluded from the CCPA’s coverage; or (iv) personal information covered by other sector-specific privacy laws.
(b) To submit a verifiable request for this information, email privacy@bookpuzzles.com with “CCPA Request” in the subject line.
(c) Before fulfilling a request, the CCPA requires us to confirm you’re the person the information belongs to. We may ask you to click a confirmation link sent to your email on file, or otherwise verify your identity before proceeding.
(d) We collect personal information from the following sources:
- your direct activity on the Site and your interactions or communications with us, including information you give us to receive a product or service from us or one of our partners;
- information you submit for promotions or contests we or our partners run;
- information from surveys, customer service exchanges, and general feedback;
- demographic information from analytics providers that isn’t tied to your identity, plus information from other online or offline sources, including third parties who help us verify information you’ve given us, so we can keep our records accurate and offer you things you might actually like; and
- information from our service providers and other third parties described in this Policy, including advertisers and ad networks.
(e) We disclose personal information for these purposes:
- to deliver the services or products you signed up for;
- to let a third party market its own products or services to you;
- to provide information, products, or services you’ve requested, or to handle complaints and opt-out requests;
- to notify you about products, services, events, or news that might interest you;
- to improve the Site and how it presents content, through testing, research, and development;
- to personalize your experience and show you relevant content, products, and offers, including targeted ads on the Site, other sites, by email, or by text, with your consent where the law requires it;
- to keep the Site, our services, our databases, and our business generally safe and secure;
- to respond to law enforcement or government requests and to comply with legal obligations;
- to evaluate or carry out a merger, sale, reorganization, or transfer of our business or assets; and
- for any other purpose disclosed when we collected the information, or otherwise allowed under the CCPA.
(f) We disclose personal information to our service providers and to these categories of third parties: our affiliates; data aggregators; advertisers; advertising networks; and third parties connected with products or services we or they provide to you.
Right to Request Deletion
(a) You may ask us to delete personal information we’ve collected or kept about you over the past twelve months.
(b) Submit a verifiable deletion request by emailing privacy@bookpuzzles.com with “CCPA Request” in the subject line.
(c) Once we’ve verified your request, we’ll tell you the categories of personal information we collected about you and where it came from.
(d) This Policy already discloses our business purposes for collecting and, where applicable, selling personal information, along with the categories of third parties we’ve shared it with.
Right to Opt Out of Sale
You have the right to tell us to stop selling your personal information. If you’re in the middle of requesting a product or service from us, this right may be temporarily limited to the extent reasonably necessary to complete that request — but you can still require us to stop any further sale of your information after that.
Right to Non-Discrimination
We won’t treat you differently for exercising your CCPA rights. That means we won’t deny you goods or services, charge you different prices, deny you discounts, give you a lower quality of service, or suggest that any of that might happen if you exercise your rights.
Authorized Agents
You may have someone else submit a verifiable request on your behalf, but that person must be registered with the California Secretary of State and must have your authorization to act for you.
Limitations on Requests
You may submit a verifiable request for access no more than twice in any twelve-month period. Your request must give us enough information to reasonably verify that you are who you say you are (or that you’re an authorized agent), and must describe what you’re asking for clearly enough that we can understand and respond to it. We can’t provide personal information if we can’t verify your identity or authority, or confirm the information relates to you. Submitting a request doesn’t require you to create an account with us, and any information you give us to verify your identity will be used only for that purpose.
Response Time and Format
We aim to respond to verifiable requests within 45 days of receiving them. If we need more time — up to 90 days total — we’ll let you know in writing by email, along with our reasons. Our responses will be in writing, delivered by email, and will cover only the 12 months before we received your request. If we can’t comply with some or all of a request, we’ll explain why. We’ll deliver information in a format that’s portable and easy to use.
Amendments to This California Notice
We may update this notice at any time, and changes take effect once posted here. We won’t separately notify you beyond that, so check back periodically.
9. Users Outside the United States
Book Puzzles is published for, and intended to be used by, residents of the United States. While we try to respect the privacy expectations of everyone who visits, our practices and this Policy are built around U.S. law. If you’re unsure whether this Policy fits the privacy laws where you live, please don’t use the Site or give us personal information. If you’re located outside the United States and choose to give us personal information anyway, you’re agreeing to have that information used as described here and transferred to and stored in the United States, whose data protection laws may differ from those of your home country.
10. Children’s Privacy
We take the privacy of young solvers seriously and do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If we discover that we’ve collected information from a child under 13, we’ll delete it as soon as we become aware.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may revise this Privacy Policy from time to time without advance notice. Any update becomes effective as of the date it’s posted here. We encourage you to check back periodically so you always know what to expect.
12. Keeping Your Information Secure
We take reasonable technical, physical, and administrative steps to protect the information we collect, but no method of storage or transmission is perfectly secure, and we can’t guarantee that unauthorized access will never happen. You can help protect your own information by using encryption tools and other safeguards, and you’re responsible for the security of information you send us or access over unencrypted or public networks.
